Basketball Recap: Aubrey Sparks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Owen Valley over Linton-Stockton

After flying high against Westville last Saturday, Owen Valley came back down to earth. The Owen Valley Patriots fell 52-43 to the Linton-Stockton Miners on Tuesday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Miners recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Owen Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aubrey Sparks, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. That was a full 44.2% of Owen Valley's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Hannah Bixler was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Owen Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Linton-Stockton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.

Owen Valley will welcome Terre Haute North Vigo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Owen Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Linton-Stockton, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ben Davis at 10:00 a.m. on January 3, 2025.
