Baseball Recap: Black River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wellington on Thursday, Black River came back down to earth. The Pirates took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia Raiders on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 8-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Black River's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Columbia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Black River will challenge Northwestern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia, they will face off against Keystone at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
