Softball Recap: Shawnee Finds Playoff Glory Versus Dongola

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Shawnee walked away with it. They came out on top against the Dongola Demons by a score of 10-5 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won five in a row.

Avery Stegle and Madalyn Schuster did most of the damage at the plate: Stegle went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Schuster went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Schuster a new career-high. Eliza Ford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Shawnee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dongola only posted a batting average of .286.

Shawnee's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Dongola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Shawnee nor Dongola have any future games scheduled.
