Baseball Game Preview: Trinidad Miners vs. Ignacio Bobcats

For the first time this season, Trinidad will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Ignacio Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Trinidad hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Trinidad fell victim to Pagosa Springs and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 17-0.

Meanwhile, Ignacio might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Nucla who claimed the real prize. The Bobcats fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 4-3. The Bobcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Gabe A was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. A was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Cole W made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Stoney W, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Trinidad's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ignacio, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Trinidad might still be hurting after the 16-7 loss they got from Ignacio when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Miners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
