Basketball Recap: Jordan-Matthews Find Success

If Cummings wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Jordan-Matthews, they should've done a better job of containing Jada Scott. The Jordan-Matthews Jets came out on top against the Cummings Cavaliers by a score of 43-31 on Friday thanks in part to Scott, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. Scott is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Another player making a difference was Saniya White, who posted six points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Despite the loss, Cummings saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Laniya Johnson had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makiyah Pettiford, who earned five points.

Jordan-Matthews' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cummings, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Jordan-Matthews wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-38 loss against Chatham Central on the 10th. As for Cummings, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-19 victory against Bartlett Yancey on the 10th.
