Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is TERRA Environmental's Fourth in Last Five Outings

If Sunset wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played TERRA Environmental, they should've done a better job of containing Genevive Cherington. TERRA Environmental enjoyed a cozy 40-24 victory over the Sunset Knights on Wednesday thanks in part to Cherington, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Cherington is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Sunset still got an impressive performance from Gabriela Rojas, who earned six points and five steals. That's the most steals Rojas has posted since back in December of 2023.

TERRA Environmental is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Sunset, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. TERRA Environmental won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Coral Gables at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jasmin Abu-Zaraybah and Celeste Teboe. As for Sunset, they will welcome Coral Park at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
