The Valhalla Vikings kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of Woodlands by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Ashari Emuze had an outrageously good game for Woodlands as she scored 30 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Emuze has scored at least 25% of Woodlands' points. Another player making a difference was Kayana Holder, who scored 11 points.

Valhalla's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Woodlands, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Valhalla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodlands will head out on the road to face off against Albertus Magnus at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
