Softball Recap: Huntingdon Gets the Win

After losing to Southern Huntingdon County the last time they met, Huntingdon decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bearcats skirted past the Rockets 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

Alivia Nicklow was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Nicklow wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Raelynn Fisher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Emmah Royer was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Huntingdon's record is now 12-5. As for Southern Huntingdon County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Huntingdon will square off against Penns Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern Huntingdon County, they will face off against Claysburg-Kimmel at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
