The Orleans Bulldogs will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the New Washington Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Orleans came tearing into last Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Perry Central as Orleans made off with a 55-30 win. The result was nothing new for Orleans, who have now won five games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Orleans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mylie Knight led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine steals and seven assists. The contest was Knight's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Ralph, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, New Washington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 65-60 to Trinity Lutheran. New Washington has struggled against Trinity Lutheran recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Orleans' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for New Washington, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Orleans against New Washington in their previous matchup back in November of 2020 as the squad secured a 77-48 win. With Orleans ahead 40-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
