Baseball Recap: Chaffey Comes Up Short on the Road Against Patriot

Chaffey had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Patriot Warriors by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Jacob Venegas put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Harlan Gomez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Jaden Resendez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Patriot's record now sits at 2-0.

Chaffey wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-8 win against Colton on the 21st. As for Patriot, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 victory against Jurupa Hills on the 21st.
