Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nelson). They claimed a resounding 62-27 win over the Reynolds Raiders. Given Nelson's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Reynolds is ranked 88th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Reynolds lost, don't look at Elliot Bruce. Despite the final result, he picked up 117 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Bruce also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass.

The victory (which was Nelson's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points over those games. As for Reynolds, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nelson will welcome Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' defense has only allowed 9.9 points per game this season, so Nelson's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Reynolds, they will be playing at home against Clackamas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Cavaliers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
