Softball Recap: Borrego Springs Takes a Loss

Borrego Springs lost against Bonsall back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Borrego Springs lost 16-6 to Bonsall. The match marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lylamae Gutierrez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Gutierrez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anavey Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Borrego Springs' loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bonsall, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Borrego Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Calipatria at 4:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Bonsall, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against High Tech SD on the 28th.
