Basketball Recap: J.Z. George Jaguars vs. Union Yellowjackets
The J.Z. George Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Union, falling 61-27. While losing is never fun, J.Z. George can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 111th).
Union's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracyn Tillman, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Kylee Madden was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
J.Z. George's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.2 points per game. As for Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
