Softball Recap: Alcorn Central Comes Up Short

Alcorn Central and Nettleton squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Alcorn Central had to settle for second. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-5. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sydnee Norman put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off eight hits. Norman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Journey Phillips was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Alcorn Central's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Nettleton, their win bumped their record up to 26-3-1.

While Alcorn Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
