Softball Recap: Hastings Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hastings entered their tilt with Kellogg on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Panthers.

Jordyn Birdsall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashtyn Denton was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Bucher, who went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hastings kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Hastings now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Kellogg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Hastings will challenge Thornapple Kellogg at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.86 runs per game on average), something the Saxons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kellogg, they will host Pennfield at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
