Basketball Game Preview: Brenham Cubs vs. A&M Consolidated Tigers

The Brenham Cubs will square off against the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. A&M Consolidated took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Brenham, who comes in off a win.

Brenham saw some tournament action on Saturday. They escaped with a win against San Angelo Central by the margin of a single free throw, 29-28. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cubs.

Brenham relied on the efforts of Antyianna Lang, who posted nine points and eight rebounds, and Janiyah Mathis, who had four points and six rebounds. Lang is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Meanwhile, A&M Consolidated came up short against Wylie on Friday and fell 42-34. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 48th).

Brenham is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for A&M Consolidated, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Brenham didn't have too much breathing room in their game against A&M Consolidated in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 33-29 victory.
