Baseball Recap: Eastridge Gets the Win

On Monday Eastridge's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Churchville-Chili Saints. Seven seems to be a good number for the Lancers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Aaden Bishop made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Bishop wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Declan Caron, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Armando Figueroa also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Eastridge's record now sits at 7-0. As for Churchville-Chili, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2.

Eastridge and Churchville-Chili should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Lancers (ranked 29th) will meet Edison Tech (ranked 302nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Churchville-Chili will square off against Hilton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 73). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Saints 2.8, the Cadets 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
