Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Bellows Falls

Bellows Falls had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Long Trail 34-32. This was payback for the Terriers, who suffered a 39-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Bellows Falls' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Nystrom led the charge by putting up 14 points and four steals. Nystrom is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Moore, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

Bellows Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Bellows Falls' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Long Trail, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

As for Long Trail, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 36-22 victory against Sharon Academy on the 11th.
