Volleyball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Wheeler duked it out with Hanover Central on Wednesday. The Bearcats lost 3-0 to the Wildcats. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Wheeler was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-9, 25-22.

Hanover Central found their leader in sophomore Liliana Chorba, who had 19 digs and five assists. Chorba is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Mattea Robertson also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Wheeler and nudges their season record down to 17-10. As for Hanover Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Coming up, Wheeler is taking a road trip to take on Hammond Bishop Noll at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hanover Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kankakee Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
