Softball Game Preview: Shaker Heights Red Raiders vs. Brunswick Blue Devils

Shaker Heights is 0-4 against Brunswick since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Shaker Heights is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

Shaker Heights couldn't beat Medina on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Battling Bees by a score of 5-4.

Shaker Heights saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ekko Armstrong, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brunswick fell victim to Mentor and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-0. The Blue Devils' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Gabby Diligente spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Shaker Heights, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 13-6.

Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shaker Heights has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Brunswick struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
