Baseball Game Preview: Albion Purple Eagles vs. Wilson Lakemen

The Albion Purple Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Wilson Lakemen at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Albion will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Albion earned a 7-2 victory over Barker.

Nathan Gibson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Albion is 2-1 when Gibson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Gibson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gavin Boyce was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Elliott Trapiss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wilson came up short against Newfane on Wednesday and fell 12-7.

Tyler Johnston was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Albion's record now sits at 4-5. As for Wilson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Albion couldn't quite get it done against Wilson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Purple Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
