Recap: Woodson Warriors vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

On Friday, the Woodson Warriors faced the Jackson-Reed Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woodson was dealt a 43-8 loss at the hands of Jackson-Reed. The loss means Woodson is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.

Leading Jackson-Reed to victory were Lucia Nawer and Kryslynn Stewart. Nawer scored 12 points along with two steals, while Stewart scored 11 points along with four steals. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Lillian Lacore was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.

Woodson dropped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Jackson-Reed, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
