Recap: Red Springs Red Devils vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes

If the Red Springs Red Devils were feeling good off their 58-31 takedown of the Clinton Dark Horses last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Red Springs fell just short of Fairmont by a score of 41-39. While losing is never fun, Red Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Fairmont is ranked 144th).

Red Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaedon Porter, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Porter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justice Mcmillan, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Red Springs dropped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Fairmont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Red Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairmont, they will head out on the road to challenge West Bladen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Bladen will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
