Basketball Game Preview: Lockney Longhorns vs. Whitharral Panthers

The Lockney Longhorns will face off against the Whitharral Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Lockney was beaten by Denver City 83-50. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1393rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 611th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Whitharral, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They snuck past Tulia with a 63-59 victory on Saturday.

Lockney better keep an eye on Nathaniel Sansom. He was instrumental in Whitharral's win, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 14 boards. Sansom's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jack Griffin was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Whitharral pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Lockney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
