Baseball Recap: Duchesne Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Duchesne faced off against Timpview on Thursday. The Duchesne Eagles took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timpview Thunderbirds. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunderbirds 9-3 in the first period.

Connor Karren was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Rex Thompson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Duchesne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Timpview pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Duchesne will venture away from home to take on North Sevier at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Duchesne has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Timpview, they will be playing at home against Cottonwood at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Cottonwood will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Timpview surely won't give up without a fight.
