Basketball Recap: Pacheco Takes a Loss

After flying high against Vanguard College Prep last Saturday, Pacheco came back down to earth. The Pacheco Panthers took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hughson Huskies. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-39 two weeks ago.

Hughson was led to victory by Jackson Gehrke and Riley Clark. Gehrke dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Clark almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Gehrke has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was JC Lupercio, who posted two points.

Pacheco's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Hughson, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacheco will venture away from home to take on Lathrop at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Hughson, they will head out on the road to challenge Bradshaw Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
