Volleyball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Takes a Loss

Hopewell-Loudon was the 3-2 winner over New Riegel when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Chieftains fell 3-1 to the Blue Jackets on Thursday.

While Hopewell-Loudon had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Araceli Velasquez paced Hopewell-Loudon's offense, picking up 19 kills. Velasquez got some help from Savanna Cook and her 17 assists. Cook was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Hopewell-Loudon dropped their record down to 7-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for New Riegel, their win ended a six-match drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15.

Looking ahead, Hopewell-Loudon will venture away from home to square off against Mohawk at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for New Riegel, they will host Upper Scioto Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
