Football Game Preview: St. Michael the Archangel Guardians vs. Knob Noster Panthers

The St. Michael the Archangel Guardians will square off against the Knob Noster Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael the Archangel will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

St. Michael the Archangel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past University Academy Charter/Kauffman to the tune of 38-0. Considering the Guardians have won four contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Michael the Archangel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gage Burgess, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 93 yards and one TD. The Guardians also got a significant boost from Luis Tellado, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Michael the Archangel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Knob Noster hadn't done well against Holden recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. The Panthers took down the Eagles 28-14. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Eagles on their field since October 25, 2019.

Knob Noster's win came from a few key players St. Michael the Archangel will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylend Hudson, who rushed for 48 yards and a pair of scores. Another rusher making a difference was Conner Morris, who rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown.

St. Michael the Archangel's record now sits at 7-3. As for Knob Noster, their record is now 8-1.
