The Sutton Mustangs will take on the Sandy Creek Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sutton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 38 points per game this season.

Sutton will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Exeter-Milligan/Friend on Friday. The Mustangs walked away with a 34-26 win over the Bobcats.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Connor Hinrichs and Griffin Bergen. Hinrichs rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry while Bergen rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores.

Sutton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 352 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Sandy Creek faced Thayer Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Titans, falling 40-14. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sutton will have to contain Kam Sealey as he made an impact in Sandy Creek's last game. He rushed for 138 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 167 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. Sealey has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Sandy Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Sutton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Sutton was taken down by Sandy Creek 59-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Ethan Shaw (who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 201 yards and four TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
