Baseball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Beckman Patriots

For the second straight game, Mission Viejo will face off against Beckman. The Diablos will take on the Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Beckman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mission Viejo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Beckman 17-1 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Diablos with their most commanding win of the season.

Jackson Stonebarger looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max Osika, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Sam Ursulo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mission Viejo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Beckman, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
