Softball Recap: Sherando Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Sherando nor Millbrook made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 7-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Lilian Wray's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elleana Shutts, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Grum, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Sherando pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Millbrook, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Sherando does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millbrook, they will take on Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
