Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Crusaders vs. Lumberton Panthers

Sacred Heart and Lumberton are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. Sacred Heart will head out to challenge Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sacred Heart gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Richton as Sacred Heart made off with a 16-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Jackson Gamber made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Adam Rhodes looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brad Marrero, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Darren Brown, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Sacred Heart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lumberton entered their tilt with East Marion on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 win.

Sacred Heart's record now sits at 10-6. As for Lumberton, their record now sits at 11-3-1.

Sacred Heart took their victory against Lumberton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. Does Sacred Heart have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lumberton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
