Basketball Recap: Augusta Christian Takes a Loss

Augusta Christian had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it six. They were outmatched by the Horse Creek Academy Stallions and fell 71-32. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

As for Horse Creek Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 73.1 points this season.

Horse Creek Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kingston Hightower led the charge by putting up 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Kearse, who posted 12 points.

Augusta Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Clinton at 1:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Horse Creek Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calhoun County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions will be up against the Saints' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
