Baseball Recap: Vandalia Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Staunton, Vandalia was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Dieterich Movin Maroons 5-3. This was payback for the Vandals, who suffered a 9-8 loss the last time these two teams met.

Qwentyn Stombaugh was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Jones, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Vandalia's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Dieterich, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Vandalia will face off against Carlyle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vandals are facing the Indians/Lady Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians/Lady Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Dieterich, they will take on Cumberland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
