Volleyball Recap: Fairfield's Undefeated Season over After 11 Games

Fairfield lost against East Clinton back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Astros. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

Fairfield actually scored more points across those four sets (91-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Fairfield still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Bales, who had 16 digs. Bales is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season.

East Clinton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylynn Spurlock, who had eight digs and one assist. Those eight digs gave Spurlock a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fairfield fell to 10-1. As for East Clinton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Fairfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Whiteoak on the 18th. As for East Clinton, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Bethel-Tate on the 18th.
