Basketball Recap: Oak Grove Classical Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Oak Grove Classical Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Legacy Academy Silverbacks. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-44 back in January.

Oak Grove Classical Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Rush, who posted 17 points. Rush has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ivan Moore, who had 13 points.

Legacy Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniel Tavarez, who put up seven points along with five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Tavarez a new career-high in assists. Bryant Scales was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took racking up 14 points.

Oak Grove Classical Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Legacy Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.
