Softball Recap: Bridgeport Finds Home Field Redemption Against Beallsville

There's no place like home for Bridgeport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Beallsville Blue Devils on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their two-run performance the match before.

Vanessa Mullen was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jayde Carman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Madison Aubrey also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Bridgeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beallsville only posted an OBP of .176.

Bridgeport is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Beallsville, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Bridgeport has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Buckeye Local on the 10th. As for Beallsville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-0 defeat against Frontier on the 9th.
