Basketball Recap: Durham Academy Comes Up Short

Durham Academy and Forsyth Country Day squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Durham Academy had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Forsyth Country Day Furies, falling 65-35. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Furies are ranked eighth).

Durham Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was PJ Jeffries, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Ruth, who posted eight points.

Durham Academy dropped their record down to 15-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Forsyth Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Durham Academy nor Forsyth Country Day have any future games scheduled.
