Basketball Recap: Granite Hills Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Granite Hills waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They secured a 66-61 W over the Valhalla Norsemen. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Norsemen, too.

Granite Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lathan Fry out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. Fry has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 26 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jasen Hughes, who went 6 for 11 en route to 18 points.

Granite Hills was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valhalla only racked up 12 assists.

Valhalla lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Delon Hana, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Hana a new career-high. Andrew Mikhail also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Granite Hills has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for Valhalla, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-8.

Granite Hills will square off against Santana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. As for Valhalla, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-55 loss against Del Lago Academy on the 27th.
