Softball Recap: Stoneman Douglas Comes Up Short

The Stoneman Douglas Eagles came up short against the Key West Conchs on Saturday and fell 5-1.

Kaitlin Enright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stoneman Douglas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Kalvaitis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Stoneman Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Key West, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record.

Coming up, Stoneman Douglas will venture away from home to challenge Cypress Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Key West, they will face off against Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
