Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Fort Thomas

Fort Thomas waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over the Baboquivari Warriors. The Apaches have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Lyra Sanchez looked comfortable as she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Kaylee Benally was a standout: she scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Leilynn Wesley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Fort Thomas hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Fort Thomas back to even at 4-4. As for Baboquivari, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Fort Thomas will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Union at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Baboquivari, they will head out to square off against San Carlos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. San Carlos has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something Baboquivari will no doubt try to take advantage of.
