Softball Recap: Gates Chili Takes a Loss

Gates Chili's last matchup with Pittsford could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Spartans came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-1. The Spartans have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Gates Chili saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mattingly Kretser, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Gates Chili's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Pittsford, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will venture away from home to challenge Canandaigua Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Pittsford, they will head out to face off against Greece Odyssey at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
