Baseball Recap: Milan Big Reds vs. Huron Chiefs
Milan had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 13-19 to make it five. They came up short against the Huron Chiefs, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in April.
As for Huron, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Huron's part, Milan's batters probably weren't too happy with Dayton Miller, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up five walks).
At the plate, Huron's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bradley Hughes, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Dominic Russo was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milan will challenge Canton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cobras' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Big Reds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Huron, they will square off against St. Mary Catholic Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
