Seattle's Nathan Hale continues strong start, Corona del Sol shines at Hoophall and North Central shakes things up in Indiana.

MaxPreps High School Top 25 Boys Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (No. 1 last week) Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 5-0
We'll find out what the nation's No. 1 team is made of this week with games against Independent Top 10 No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and Nevada state championship contender Centennial (Las Vegas).

2. (2) Norcross (Ga.), 8-0
Heading to the City of Palms Classic later this week, the Blue Devils bolstered their resume Saturday with a 70-55 win over then-No. 14 Cordova (Tenn.).

3. (3) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 7-0
No reason to doubt the Monarchs so far. Mater Dei dominated St. Mary's (Phoenix) 79-43 at Hoophall West in Arizona over the weekend.

4. (4) Greensboro Day (Greensboro, N.C.), 13-0
Head coach Freddy Johnson's Bengals have won each of their last six outings by 20 points or more. Greensboro Day is allowing just 42.7 points per game on the season.



5. (5) Patrick School (Elizabeth, N.J.), 0-0
The Celtics finally take the floor Friday against Sagemont (Weston, Fla.) at the City of Palms Classic.

6. (7) Garfield (Seattle), 3-0
Busy week ahead for the Bulldogs as they have four Metro League games in a span of five days.

7. (9) Nathan Hale (Seattle), 3-0
The Raiders are legit. Michael Porter Jr. and company beat defending Class 3A state champ Rainier Beach (Seattle) 74-61 on Friday night. Hale will join No. 6 Garfield at the Les Schwab Invitational later this month and the two teams meet in league play Jan. 27.

8. (8) Chino Hills (Calif.), 6-0
A win over Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) at Hoophall West helped the Huskies extend their win streak to 41 games. Chino Hills will join No. 3 Mater Dei and No. 15 Bishop O'Dowd in Las Vegas for the Tarkanian Classic this week.

9. (11) Memphis East (Memphis, Tenn.), 5-1
Head coach Penny Hardaway's Mustangs are headed to the City of Palms Classic, where they will open against Pace Academy (Atlanta, Ga.) on Saturday.

10. (12) Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia), 1-0
After a 20-point win in their season opener, the Saints meet No. 20 Imhotep Charter on Wednesday then head to the City of Palms Classic. Neumann-Goretti could meet No. 2 Norcross or Independent Top 10-ranked IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.).



11. (15) Curie (Chicago), 7-0
Five of Curie's seven wins have come by 30 points or more. A meeting with No. 17 Simeon could materialize later this month at the Pontiac Holiday Invitational.

12. (16) DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), 3-0
A three-win opening week was punctuated Saturday at the National High School Hoops Festival with a 66-58 win over then-No. 23 Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.).

13. (13) St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.), 0-0
Opens Friday vs. Prestige Prep (New York, N.Y.).

14. (17) Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), 0-0
Opens Saturday vs. Pope John XXIII (Sparta) at the Hoop Group Tip-Off Showcase.

15. (19) Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.), 1-0
Head coach Lou Richie's Dragons meet Putnam City West (Oklahoma City, Okla.) on Friday at the Tarkanian Classic. A win there could set up a second round matchup with No. 8 Chino Hills.

16. (NR) Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.), 6-0
The Aztecs may have been the team of the weekend at Hoophall West. Behind star point guard Alex Barcello, Corona del Sol blasted Bay Area visitor Moreau Catholic (Hayward, Calif.) 99-67 then rallied for an 84-74 win over Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.).

17. (22) Simeon (Chicago), 3-0
A win over Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) at the Chicago Elite Classic is looking even better after the Purple Eagles returned home and swept a very competitive field at the Gonzaga DC Classic. Big games against Chicago rivals Morgan Park and Whitney Young come before Christmas.



18. (NR) North Central (Indianapolis), 4-0
Kris Wilkes went for 32 points Saturday as the Panthers blew past then-No. 6 New Albany in the second half for an 84-60 victory. The showcase win snapped a 27-game streak for New Albany and established North Central as the new favorite in Indiana's Class 4A.

19. (20) Iowa City West (Iowa City, Iowa), 3-0
West's Jan. 14 meeting with Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park, Kan.) got a little more interesting over the weekend as the Kansas school knocked off then-No. 18 Vashon (St. Louis, Mo.).

20. (NR) Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia), 1-0
The backcourt combo of Dave Beatty and Daron Russell led Imhotep to an impressive 70-53 win over Miami pledge Lonnie Walker and Reading on Saturday.

21. (24) Greenforest (Decatur, Ga.), 6-2
From a national perspective, things in Georgia should remain interesting all season long. Greenforest beat No. 22 Westlake but has losses to No. 2 Norcross and unranked but ultra-talented Wheeler (Marietta). The Eagles picked up a quality out-of-state win over the weekend against Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) at the National High School Hoops Festival.

22. (25) Westlake (Atlanta, Ga.), 6-1
The Lions added a couple of quality wins to their resume last weekend by knocking off then-No. 23 Wheeler and Pinson Valley (Pinson, Ala.).

23. (NR) Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 10-0
Northeastern signee Jason Strong and Yale-bound Paul Atkinson Jr. – both 6-foot-9 – lead the Lions, who have reeled off a string of victories over strong Sunshine State opponents. Westminster has knocked off Providence (Jacksonville), University (Fort Lauderdale), Norland (Miami) and then-No. 21 Blanche Ely (Pompano Beach) since Nov. 26.



24. (NR) Scotlandville (Baton Rouge, La.), 6-0
Ja'Vonte Smart and the Hornets are coming off a big week that included wins over Madison Prep Academy (Baton Rouge) and Landry-Walker (New Orleans).

25. (6) New Albany (Ind.), 3-1
Indiana's defending Class 4A state champions remain in the rankings despite Saturday's 24-point loss. The Bulldogs had won 30 of their last 31 games prior to their humbling outing against North Central.
