Baseball Recap: Fort Lupton Comes Up Short

Fort Lupton lost against Middle Park on April 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bluedevils fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 9-8. The Bluedevils' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Jesse Ceretto put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Ceretto was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Ivan Mota and Josiah Gonzales stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mota went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one double, while Gonzales went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Fort Lupton is 2-1 when Gonzales posts three or more hits, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Rhoda, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Fort Lupton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Middle Park, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Fort Lupton will be playing in front of their home fans against Weld Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rebels are coming into the match with three straight defeats on the road, meaning the Bluedevils will have to defend against a squad out to prove they can win away from home. As for Middle Park, they will host Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
