Softball Recap: Redington Huskies vs. Homer Mariners
Redington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Homer Mariners. Unfortunately, that's the fifth time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-6 defeat on Thursday.
As for Homer, they moved to 6-13 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Redington since April 26, 2024.
For Homer's part, Jessica Plumlee was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Amakah Stineff was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Redington will take on rival Houston at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Homer is set to face off against their familiar foe Kenai Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
