Frankenmuth takes loss despite strong efforts from Grace Brenner and Mia McLaughlin

Recap: Frankenmuth Eagles vs. Rockford Rams

On Thursday, Frankenmuth might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Rockford an easy 67-44 victory. While losing is never fun, Frankenmuth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Rockford is ranked seventh).

Frankenmuth's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia McLaughlin, who scored 16 points, and Grace Brenner who scored seven points along with five steals. Brenner hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Izzy Bernthal was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Frankenmuth struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Frankenmuth and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Rockford, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Frankenmuth will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bridgeport at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Rockford and West Catholic will round out the year against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at.
