Basketball Recap: Desert Comes Up Short

Desert suffered their biggest loss since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by the California City Ravens 78-44. The Scorpions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ravens earlier this season, when they won 63-54.

California City found their leader in sophomore Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Brown. DeShawn 'Pocket Magic' Elizalde was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten steals.

Desert's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for California City, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Desert will square off against Kern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for California City, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the California City Ravens take on the Frazier Mountain Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
