Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Classen Knights vs. Sapulpa Chieftains

The Northwest Classen Knights will take on the Sapulpa Chieftains at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Northwest Classen beats Sapulpa with 80 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Northwest Classen enjoyed a cozy 80-62 win over Enid on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly 18 points.

Meanwhile, Sapulpa posted their closest victory since February 24, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Bartlesville 52-50. Given the Chieftains' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Bruins are ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Northwest Classen and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Sapulpa, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.

Northwest Classen strolled past Sapulpa when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 74-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwest Classen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
