Basketball Game Preview: Sparta Academy Warriors vs. Monroe Academy Volunteers

Sparta Academy is 8-2 against Monroe Academy since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Sparta Academy Warriors will be playing at home against the Monroe Academy Volunteers at 6:00 p.m. Sparta Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Sparta Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Snook Christian Academy by a score of 34-32 on Friday.

Kaitlyn Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Salter, who posted seven points and 14 boards.

Meanwhile, Monroe Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener back in December of 2024. They strolled past Sparta Academy with points to spare, taking the game 37-23.

Sparta Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Monroe Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
